The cost of hiring drummers in Dubai depends on six things: the drum style, the number of drummers, the length of the set, any LED or water drum equipment, travel and the date. Drummers are quoted per event, so the quickest way to a real number is to send your date, the venue and the moment you want the drums for. Below is what moves the price and what a fair quote should list.
What moves the price
The drum style. An African drum group, a zaffa group, dhol players, a tabla player, LED drummers and a water drum show each have their own setup and price.
The number of drummers. One dhol player or one percussionist costs less than a group. A zaffa, an African drum show or a stage show usually needs several drummers.
The length of the set. A short entrance costs less than a stage show or a set that runs through the party. A zaffa entrance is usually about 10 to 15 minutes.
Number of moments. A second entrance, such as a zaffa in both the ladies' hall and the men's hall, adds to the price.
Equipment. LED drums, water drums, custom music and brand colours add setup time and cost. Extra sound for a tabla or a percussionist with a band can also add to it.
Extra acts. Dancers with African drummers, bhangra dancers with the dhol, or a singer with the zaffa are priced on top.
Location. A standard quote includes travel within Dubai. Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or a remote desert venue add travel time.
The date. The October to April season and Thursday or Friday evenings cost more than quiet midweek summer dates. National Day, Ramadan, Eid and the year end gala season book up first.
What a good quote lists
Ask for each item in writing, so you can compare quotes fairly: the drum style and the number of drummers, the length of each set, the number of entrances, costumes and equipment, travel, sound, and who handles the permit with the venue. A good quote also comes with videos of the drummers on offer, not just a category.
Ways to fit your budget
- Book a short entrance instead of a long stage show.
- Book one or two drummers to play with your DJ instead of a full group.
- Use acoustic drums and skip extra sound where the room allows it.
- Pick a midweek date or a date outside the peak season.
- Book early, before the best drummers for your date are taken.
Corporate bookings
Corporate bookings are usually invoiced against a purchase order with 5% VAT. New corporate clients are often asked for a deposit at confirmation. See corporate drum shows.
